Sanam (1997)

Born into the lap of luxury, Gaurav Anand yearns for the approval of his affluent industrialist father, Yashpal. His life revolves around opulence and comfort, but he is perpetually eclipsed by his elder brother, Narendra, who resides overseas. Gaurav's resentment grows with every ounce of attention Yashpal showers on the favored son, Narendra, while seemingly disregarding his existence. The family's joy knows no bounds when Narendra returns, their time and affection entirely consumed by the prodigal son. Tragedy, however, strikes unannounced, taking Narendra away in a sudden accident, leaving the family shattered and heartbroken. In the wake of this devastating loss, Gaurav attempts to step into his brother's shoes, striving to fill the void left behind. His efforts, however, prove futile, intensifying his frustration. Determined to prove his worth to his father, Gaurav makes a drastic decision - he enlists in the army, not out of a sense of duty to his country, but as a declaration of his own merit. As he departs from his home, one question lingers - will his choice serve to alleviate his father's sorrow, or will he remain forever in his brother's shadow?
