Plot

In the bleak winter of 1942 Paris, amidst the war-ridden cityscape, two men find themselves caught in the savage jaws of German-controlled cinema. Jean Devaivre, an assistant director and an audacious member of the French Resistance, daringly infiltrates the iron grip of the German studio, Continental Films. His mission is as treacherous as it is vital: to secure a safe conduct pass while subtly spying on the enemy, all under the guise of creating French films for their German overseers. Parallelly, the movie paints the portrait of the flamboyant screenwriter, Jean Aurenche, a man torn between his three lovers - the enigmatic artist Suzanne Raymond, the seductive Olga, and Suzanne's charmingly talented friend, the costume stylist. Aurenche navigates the treacherous waters of his own tumultuous personal life while simultaneously dodging the insidious demands of collaboration from the German oppressors. As the silver screen of Paris flickers with tales scripted under duress, both men, Devaivre and Aurenche, wage their battles within the dimly lit studios and the shadowy corners of the city. The war becomes a personal struggle for survival, a test of wit and courage, as they dance dangerously on the razor's edge, avoiding the wolf's teeth in their quest for freedom. "Safe Conduct" is a story of resistance and resilience, of art under oppression, and of men who dared to defy the odds in their pursuit of truth and liberty.
