Plot

In the vibrant whirlwind of consumerism and familial love that is "Rosalie Goes Shopping" (1989), we meet our charming protagonist, Rosalie, a relentless shopaholic unbounded by the constraints of reality. She indulges in her retail therapy with a carefree spirit, refusing to let the trivial detail of a dwindling bank account dampen her zeal. When the town's shopkeepers grow weary of her bad checks and maxed-out credit cards, Rosalie resorts to pilfering from her own kin to gift others, her life teetering precariously on the brink of financial ruin. However, a glimmer of hope emerges in the form of a 'guilt gift' - a personal computer complete with a modem, presented to her by her daughter. This unassuming device becomes Rosalie's ticket back to the top, transforming the seasoned shopper into a savvy computer hacker. Her aim? To shower her beloved family with the fruits of her labors, albeit through dubious means. As Rosalie embarks on this dangerous digital adventure, she attempts to rectify her past misdemeanors while inadvertently inviting a fresh set of troubles. The film effortlessly weaves a tapestry of familial bonds, moral dilemmas, and the seductive allure of materialism, serving up an engrossing tale that leaves viewers pondering the lengths one would go to for the sake of love...and shopping.
