River of No Return (1954)

In the unforgiving wilderness, Matt Calder, a rugged farmer, peacefully coexists with his young son Mark on their remote homestead, a sanctuary untouched by the ravages of the outside world. Their tranquility is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of Harry Weston, a reckless gambler, and his captivating wife, Kay, a former saloon hall girl. The pair find themselves marooned after losing control of their raft on the nearby treacherous river. Weston, driven by insatiable greed, has won a promising mining claim in a poker game and is in a desperate race against time to register it in the nearest town. When Calder denies Weston his only means of protection, a solitary rifle and horse, the gambler callously abandons his wife, taking what he desires and leaving the trio vulnerable to the looming threat of an Indian attack. Stripped of defense and left at the mercy of the wild, Calder, his son Mark and the abandoned Kay embark on an adrenaline-fueled journey. They must navigate the perilous river on the discarded raft, plunging into a harrowing adventure through the untamed wilderness. The trio must rely on their wits and each other to survive, finding themselves in a life-or-death struggle against the powerful, unyielding current of the River of No Return. Their journey becomes a test of resilience, courage and the human spirit, from which they may or may not return.
