In the gritty, tumultuous landscape of Los Angeles in 1999, a man both feared and reviled, Police Officer Dave Brown, operates within the notorious Rampart Division. A thick veil of misogyny, racism, and brutal violence shrouds his persona, yet Dave fiercely defends his contentious character, claiming his loathing knows no bias. His reputation is further stained by the rumored execution of a suspected serial date rapist, earning him the chilling moniker "Date Rape Dave." Amidst the turmoil of his professional life, Dave navigates a unique familial dynamic. He shares a home and continues intimate relationships with his two ex-wives, Barbara and Catherine, who are sisters, in a precarious effort to maintain a semblance of family for his two daughters, Helen and Margaret. As the sinister layers of Dave's actions unravel further, another scandalous incident involving a grocery store hold-up surfaces, threatening to shatter his world. With his savings dwindling on lawyers and an urgent need for funds, Dave is shoved into a corner. His actions scrutinized, his character questioned, and his alliances tested, Dave finds himself in a precarious game of survival. Unapologetic and steadfast, he must discern friend from foe within his ranks, while fighting to safeguard his distorted ideals from being dismantled by the scandals threatening to engulf him.
