Plot

In the isolated mountains of Huesca, Spain, the young and adventurous Killian has spent his entire life. But in 1953, the allure of his birthplace, the enchanting African island of Fernando Poo, now part of Spanish Guinea, beckons him back. He embarks on a journey of self-discovery, working alongside his father and brother in the sprawling cacao plantations that paint the island's landscape. Over two decades, through the island's tumultuous path to independence, Killian experiences the raw intensity of maturity, pain, loss, and most importantly, knowledge. Meanwhile, a young Spanish woman is left grappling with a mystery after her father's death. A fragment of a letter, heavy with undisclosed truths, has her yearning for answers. The quest for resolution steers her to the same exotic African island of Fernando Poo, a land pulsating with her family's hidden past. As she peels back the layers, the island reveals secrets interwoven with her lineage, binding her story with Killian's in a tapestry of love, loss, and heritage. "Palm Trees in the Snow" is a vivid exploration of hidden histories, personal growth, and the haunting beauty of uncharted territories, set against the compelling backdrop of a time-tossed African island.
