Plot

In the far-flung year of 3037, a young, brilliant scientist named Kiva constructs a formidable mecha robot, the Megas, in a desperate attempt to alter the tide of a war sparked by the Glorft, a race of monstrous, cthulhu-like invaders. Her complex plan misfires dramatically, catapulting the Megas back in time to 1936, where it languishes forgotten in a New Jersey junkyard till 2004. This is where Coop and Jamie, two slackers on the cusp of their thirties with a fondness for the unconventional, stumble upon the robot. With an eye for cool aesthetics, they retrofit the Megas with an array of offbeat modifications, transforming the once sophisticated machine into a futuristic hot rod. From replacing the robot's head with a fiery-decaled muscle car to simplifying the intricate controls with a steering wheel and a Playstation joystick, they unwittingly overhaul the robot into Megas XLR. The plot thickens when Kiva, in a race against time, discovers her reconfigured creation in the hands of these two unsuspecting boys. To her dismay, she finds herself marooned in the past as Coop, oblivious to its significance, has destroyed the robot's time travel device. Yet, in a twist of irony, Kiva recognizes the potential of Coop's instinctive piloting skills, honed from countless hours spent in the virtual world of video games. Now, Kiva must navigate the challenges of the present while planning her return to the future. All the while, she must coexist with Coop, who stubbornly claims the Megas as his own and shows a distinct lack of discernment when it comes to wielding the Earth's most destructive piece of hardware. As the alien mothership looms, Kiva, Coop, and Jamie find themselves thrust into a thrilling and unpredictable adventure, where past, present, and future collide.
