Plot

In the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, Hudson Milbank, a charismatic yet emotionally aloof half of a successful screenwriting duo, finds himself plunged into an existential crisis. After a single puff of a joint, he becomes a stranger to himself, a detached observer of his life, incapable of emotion. This peculiar condition, diagnosed as depersonalization, brings with it a whirlwind of anxiety, insomnia, depression, and an irrational fear that uttering words related to mortality will lead to the demise of his estranged father. Hudson's life becomes a desperate search for normalcy as he navigates a surreal landscape of doctors, therapists, and a kaleidoscope of treatments, each more bizarre than the last. The Golf Channel and endless movies become his sanctuary, a place to escape and fill the void of his numbed existence. His writing partner, Tom, the true scribe of their team, struggles to coax him back to reality, but Hudson remains adrift in his self-imposed emotional exile. Enter Sara Harrison, a spirited executive assistant from a movie development company. Crossing paths with Hudson at a pitch meeting, their connection blossoms into a relationship, unfazed even by the revelation of his disorder. Sara becomes Hudson's beacon of hope, a motivation powerful enough to fight the numbness. She willingly embarks on this unpredictable journey of love, despite the chaos that Hudson's life has become. However, their relationship teeters on the precipice of uncertainty. Can Sara endure the unpredictable waves of Hudson's condition? And more importantly, can Hudson, caught in a ceaseless struggle with his own mind, ever reclaim the life he once knew? From the writer of Deuce Bigalow, comes NUMB, a romantic comedy that delves into the complexities of the human psyche. It's a tale about an unusual man, a strange love, and an extraordinary journey towards feeling again.
