Nestled in the heart of Northampton, Price & Sons thrives as a family business, crafting quality men's shoes for four generations. The reluctant heir to this dwindling empire, Charlie Price, dreams of escaping the company's grasp and the narrow-mindedness of Northampton to start a new life in London with his fiancée, Nicola Marsden. However, the sudden death of his father, Harold Price, shatters Charlie's plans, compelling him to take the reins of the ailing company. Charlie uncovers a shocking truth - the primary contract that sustained the company has long expired, a secret Harold kept hidden. With no work in sight, the future of Price & Sons teeters on the brink of uncertainty. Nicola suggests selling the business to a property developer eager to transform the factory into swanky condos. However, Lauren, a devoted employee likely to be laid off, challenges Charlie not to abandon the company's loyal workforce and urges him to reshape the business model. A chance encounter with Lola, a vivacious drag queen cabaret singer, inspires Charlie with a radical idea: to manufacture fashionable women's boots robust enough for the unique demands of drag queens. The road to executing this daring vision is strewn with obstacles, from blending trendy designs with functional durability to persuading the traditional town and employees to accept such an unconventional pivot, especially when their clientele comprise of people as flamboyant as Lola. With Lola's guidance and creativity, the transformation of Price & Sons begins, despite resistance from the staff, Lola's unease in the small town, and the selfish machinations of Nicola who fails to see the potential in Charlie's audacious dream. To prove the viability of this innovative venture, Charlie decides to showcase the boots during the prestigious Milan fashion season, using drag queens as models, a feat that requires funds he doesn't possess.
