Plot

In the thriving, materialistic decade of the 1960s, a rich tapestry of love, longing, and danger weaves together the lives of three intertwined souls in Hong Kong's swirling vortex of change. No. 7 Cherry Lane chronicles the complex emotions of Ziming, a passionate Hong Kong University undergraduate, caught in the throbbing heart of a love triangle. His heart is torn between the enchanting allure of Mrs Yu, a self-exiled mother from Taiwan bearing the scars of the White Terror period, and her equally captivating daughter, Meiling. As Ziming navigates this intricate labyrinth of affection, he seeks solace in the world of cinema, using the magic of the silver screen to escape reality. Amid hushed whispers in darkened theatres and the flickering dance of light and shadow, forbidden passions unravel, painting a tantalising picture of love and desire. Set against the backdrop of 1967, a year that fanned the flames of unrest in Hong Kong, this tale tells an intoxicating story that mirrors the era's unrest. As the city teeters on the brink of turmoil, so too does Ziming's heart, caught in the crossfire of love and duty. The vibrant cityscape of Hong Kong serves as both a stage and a character in this mesmerising tale, reflecting the personal tumult within its bustling streets and silent corners. No. 7 Cherry Lane is a poignant exploration of love, desire, and the tumultuous waves they create in the sea of life.
