Plot

Former chorus girls turned amusement park ring toss owners, Gloria Fay and Mae O'Brien, find their livelihood jeopardized by the supernaturally skilled sailor "Kewpie" Wiggins. His uncanny knack for ring tossing leaves the girls cash-strapped and desperate. An ill-conceived scheme to sidetrack Kewpie leads to Gloria's imprisonment and a hefty fine, deepening their financial crisis. Salvation appears in an unconventional form - the "Miss Pacific Fleet" popularity contest, spearheaded by eminent businessman J. August Freytag and his Go-Getter Club. With votes earned through vendor purchases, the girls see a ray of hope. The middleweight boxing champ Kewpie offers to dedicate his potential winnings of 5,000 votes to his darling Gloria, setting them on a path to financial recovery and their dream return to New York. The girls rally around Gloria, fuelling her rise in the popularity charts with tireless promotions. However, as Gloria's popularity soars, so does her affection for the charming Marine, Tom Foster, Kewpie's close friend. Mae cautions Gloria about endangering their chances by upsetting Kewpie, but the sparks between Gloria and Tom are hard to ignore. With the threat of losing Kewpie's votes and the mounting tension of the upcoming boxing match, Gloria's victory in the contest hangs in the balance - a victory that could either make or break their dreams of a Broadway comeback. Will Gloria's heart lead her astray, or will she navigate these turbulent waters to claim the crown of Miss Pacific Fleet and secure their future?
