Plot

Unfolding with a stark prologue that casts wealth as the root of all evil across the sands of time, the narrative of "Noah's Ark" (1928) embarks on a journey in 1914 France. Here, we discover the Orient Express, on the verge of a catastrophic derailment as a bridge tragically collapses beneath it. Among the passengers are Al and Travis, American fortune seekers gallivanting across Europe on the wings of Travis' abundant fortune, and Marie, an innocent German damsel. In the wake of the wreckage, the duo gallantly rescues Marie, and Travis finds himself irresistibly drawn to her. When the clouds of World War I darken the horizon, Al is eager to serve his nation, but Travis is tethered by his newfound love for Marie, a citizen of the enemy nation. By 1917, however, both find themselves in uniform, with Travis leaving for the frontlines only after wedding Marie. Accusations of espionage, driven by a zealous Russian operative, cast a shadow over Marie. Sentenced to face a firing squad, she is staring at death when Travis, a member of the execution party, recognizes her. Their world is further shattered as their town is bombarded, forcing everyone underground. Amid the chaos and despair, a minister draws the parallels between their plight and the ancient tale of a despotic King of Akkad who defied divine authority, leading to a cataclysmic flood sent by Jehovah to cleanse the earth, sparing only Noah and his family. This divine mandate was to build an ark and fill it with a pair of each earthly creature, a beacon of survival in the face of annihilation. "Noah's Ark" is an intricate tapestry of love, sacrifice, and survival, weaving together the threads of the past and present in a captivating narrative of human resilience.
