Plot

In the lawless expanse of 1882's Barbary Coast, the wily, card-cheating charlatan, Charlie Malloy—better known as the Dirtwater Fox—carves out a living with audacious scams. His grandest caper yet entails swindling a band of ruthless outlaws out of $40,000, setting the stage for a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Simultaneously, Bluebird, a captivating saloon performer and courtesan, dreams of a tranquil existence. Upon meeting Josiah Widdicombe, a Mormon pioneer, she concocts a daring plan: become his seventh wife and savour the luxury of working only once every seven days. Unbeknownst to her, she pilfers Malloy's ill-gotten loot, intending only to secure enough for a convincing duchess disguise to charm Widdicombe. Her deception proves successful, and she heads towards Salt Lake City, blissfully ignorant of the storm brewing behind her. However, the relentless Dirtwater Fox is close on her heels. Despite her unwavering aspiration to join the Mormon matrimony, Bluebird and Malloy find themselves unlikely partners in a risky enterprise, seeking to exploit the promise of Mormon wealth. All the while, the shadow of the outlaws looms ominously over them, their thirst for revenge fueling a relentless pursuit of their stolen $40,000. In this whirlwind of misadventures and chance encounters, the lines between hustler and conman blur, culminating in unexpected romance and riveting suspense. 'The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox' is a wild ride through the untamed West, where danger, desire, and deception intertwine in a dance as thrilling as it is unpredictable.
