In the tumultuous year of 1992, Lithuania stands precariously on the brink of a new era, trading the iron grip of communism for the unpredictability of capitalism. Nestled within this national transformation is a small collective pig farm, helmed by the determined Irena. As the tides of change wash over the country, Irena's farm teeters on the edge of bankruptcy, threatening not only her livelihood but also the lives of her dedicated workers. Just as the farm's future seems irreparably bleak, a beacon of hope arrives in the form of the charismatic American, Bernardas. Handsome and persuasive, he presents himself as a savior, promising to rescue the struggling enterprise from its imminent demise. His sudden appearance sends ripples through the rural village, disrupting the long-established routines and stirring up a whirlwind of emotions within Irena's family life. Bewitched by Bernardas' charm, Irena finds herself caught in a surge of sentiments that she had long forgotten. Yet, amid the whirl of promises and newfound feelings, Irena can't help but question the sincerity of her American benefactor's intentions.
