In the vibrant whirlwind of the early 1960s, the flamboyantly unpredictable Mrs. Flax, captivatingly embodied by Cher, finds herself starting over yet again on the East Coast after yet another romantic disappointment. As a fiery, seductive single mother, she unintentionally becomes a constant source of mortification for her adolescent daughter, Charlotte, who is grappling with her own turbulent journey into adulthood. Charlotte, a 15-year-old on the cusp of maturity, is caught in an emotional maelstrom of adolescent angst, religious aspirations, and the tumultuous waves of a sexual awakening.
