Men at Work (1990)

Carl and James, two affable yet aimless sanitation workers, find their mundane lives taking an unexpected turn when they become embroiled in a mysterious crime. With Carl's telescope, they innocently spy on their neighbors, until one fateful evening, they witness a distressing scene - a man harassing a woman. In a bid to protect her, Carl fires a pellet gun at the aggressor, and they quickly retreat into hiding. Their innocent interference has unintended consequences when they inadvertently miss the real crime - two unknown assailants strangling the man and absconding with his body. The plot thickens when, to their horror, the slain man turns up in a can on their usual route. Terrified of being implicated in the murder, they choose to hide the body. Driven by a newfound sense of duty, they decide to solve the mystery themselves. They embark on an unconventional investigative journey, spying on the woman, partnering with an eccentric, yet experienced Vietnam veteran, abducting a pizza man, and in an unexpected twist, find themselves championing environmental protection. Immersed in a world far removed from their regular garbage rounds, Carl and James navigate the thrilling labyrinth of a real-life crime, discovering along the way that there's more to life than just picking up trash.
