Plot

In the sunny expanse of the Caribbean, retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale (Tom Arnold) has traded his military duty for a life of leisure, peddling homemade brew, ice cream, and swimsuit calendars from his nostalgia-imbued PT-73. However, tranquility is short-lived when his old nemesis Major Vladakov (Tim Curry), now the world's second most formidable terrorist, seizes the island of San Moreno, transforming it into a chilling nuclear threat. While McHale's old comrades are stationed at a nearby military base, their efforts are hamstrung by the stern and unyielding Captain Wallace B. Binghampton (Dean Stockwell), whose dubious past includes sinking a cruise liner. As Binghampton now commandeers the base and the island's governor conspires with the terrorist, McHale is propelled out of his peaceful retirement. Summoning his old crew, McHale navigates this treacherous sea of power plays and intrigue, endeavoring to dismantle Vladakov's deadly operation and save the island. As the stakes rise, McHale must juggle his laid-back lifestyle with the pressing need to prevent a catastrophic nuclear event, putting his wits and courage to the ultimate test. In this whirlwind of danger and suspense, McHale’s Navy (1997) showcases the valiant struggle of a retired hero drawn back into the throes of conflict, reminding us that heroism can often be found in the most unexpected of places.
