In the 1850s, Australia is a land aflame with the promise of gold and the hope of fortune. Amongst the throngs of ambitious expatriots from the British Isles is Daniel Morgan, an Irishman chasing dreams of affluence. But fortune is a fickle mistress, and Morgan soon finds himself marooned on the harsh shores of desperation, his pockets empty and his spirit broken. A single act of highway robbery lands him a brutal sentence of 12 years hard labor, a period marked by relentless abuse and torment. Emerging from this crucible of suffering, Morgan is a changed man. He pledges retribution against those who have wronged him, embarking on a daring path of rebellion and justice. With the assistance of Billy, an aboriginal ally, and a growing reputation for audacious exploits, he transforms into a figure of legend.
