In the heart of a quaint prairie town east of France, life for Alain, a passionate father and hopeful country singer, abruptly spirals into turmoil. His teenage daughter, Kelly, inexplicably disappears, vanishing like a mirage during a mid-90s cowboy fair. Her absence isn't mere chance but believed to be linked to her newly discovered Muslim boyfriend. Stung by dread and fuelled by fury, Alain and his young son, Georges, affectionately known as Kid, embark on a relentless quest to find their lost Kelly. Their odyssey to retrieve a fragment of their broken family leads them down a haunting trail of clues, stretching from the shadowy streets of Antwerp to the sun-scorched landscapes of Yemen and the labyrinthine alleys of Pakistan. The journey, filled with unsettling revelations, seems endless, a tormenting mirage forever on the horizon. As they navigate this perilous journey, the world around them shatters with the devastating tremors of the September 11 attacks, adding a somber backdrop to their personal tragedy. Always one step behind, the pursuit transforms from a mission of hope to an obsession, their love mutating into a potent, destructive force.
