Plot

In a future shrouded by the year 2000, a world where criminals are put on ice and guns are strictly taboo, a peculiar wave of handgun murders sets the city on edge, even claiming the life of the mayor. Enter Shawn McCormick - a rookie cop with a thirst for justice and a knack for asking the wrong questions. Her pursuit of truth leads her down a dangerous path, culminating in a near-fatal encounter with an unfrozen ex-cop killer, Thomas J. Watts. Saved by a miraculous computer chip brain transplant, she awakens with her recent memories erased but her intellect sharpened. Parallelly, the Knight Foundation, standing on the precipice of extinction, is in a race against time to unveil their ambitious project - the Knight 4000. The newly promoted Deputy Mayor, Harold Abbey, hands them a 30-day ultimatum, while the city's police department, embroiled in their own complexities, yearns for their departure. Amidst this turmoil, the Foundation's stalwart, Devon Miles, turns to an old ally - Michael Knight, who's traded his life of action for the tranquility of fishing and maintaining his beloved '57 Chevy. Reluctant to reenter the fray, Michael is finally persuaded, but on one condition - the revival of his trusty sidekick, the artificially-intelligent car KITT, once a technological marvel, now dismantled and deactivated. In a twist of fate, KITT's missing memory chip happens to be the very one implanted in Shawn's brain. As Michael painstakingly reassembles and reactivates KITT, he must contend with the AI's anger over a decade of disregard and the replacement of faux parts. Meanwhile, Shawn's post-transplant personality transformation leads her to the Knight Foundation, where she's recruited as Michael's partner. Together, they plunge into the murky depths of the city's illegal handgun crisis, aided by KITT's technological prowess. Their relentless pursuit of justice uncovers a chilling conspiracy within the police department - a plot to sell banned guns on the black market. As they close in on the truth, they find themselves in the line of fire, leading to a tragic loss within the Foundation. Can this unlikely trio outmaneuver the web of corruption and restore order in their once peaceful city? Only time will tell.
