Plot

An edgy past and a constrained present collide in "Kelly & Cal" (2014), a captivating exploration of identity, nostalgia, and the life-altering power of genuine connection. Once the vibrant heart of a punk band, Kelly now finds herself ensnared in the monotony of suburban motherhood. The rebellious spirit within her grapples with her new persona of a model wife and mother, a role she's yet to comfortably slip into. Parallel to her disarray, is her seventeen-year-old neighbor, Cal, confined to a wheelchair following a devastating accident. His youth has been usurped by circumstances, leaving him grappling with a reality he's been unwillingly tossed into. In this seemingly dull suburban setting, a chance conversation sparks a bond between these two troubled souls, both marooned in circumstances they're struggling to adapt to. This unexpected friendship blossoms into a sanctuary where they find the missing pieces of their fractured lives. For Kelly, it's a taste of the freedom and rebellion she yearns for; for Cal, it's a sense of control and vitality he's been denied. "Kelly & Cal" is a compelling portrayal of two lives reignited by an unlikely camaraderie, a testament to the human spirit's ability to find solace and strength in the face of life's unexpected turns.
