Plot

In the macabre setting of a morgue, we meet our protagonist, a hunchback portrayed with a tender touch by Paul Naschy. His character, possessing a simplicity that borders on naivety, finds solace in his menial tasks among the departed. He cultivates a bond with a frail girl, the only soul who treats him with kindness in a world which otherwise shuns him. His devotion blooms into an endearing ritual of offering flowers daily until fate cruelly plucks her from life's garden. Refusing to accept the harsh reality of her death, he believes she merely sleeps, ensnared in an eternal dream. The heart-rending moment arrives when the girl's lifeless form is brought to the morgue, destined for burial. As the sanctity of her body is violated, Naschy's character is thrust into a tempest of despair, culminating in a horrific act of retribution against the desecrators in a rare display of on-screen gore. As the law commences its relentless pursuit of him, he crosses paths with a rogue scientist, shunned by the society for his radical theories. The scientist proposes a tantalizing possibility to the Hunchback - the resurrection of his beloved, in exchange for a morbid task. The Hunchback is asked to procure fresh body parts from the graveyard and live victims, which the scientist intends to utilize for creating a monstrous entity. The story thus spirals into a chilling vortex of horror, as the Hunchback embarks on his gruesome mission fueled by his undying love.
