Tremors (1990)

Handymen Val and Earl live in a small desert town. They think a serial killer might be on the loose after they find the bodies of several locals, including one man's head and another who died of dehydration stuck at the top of an electrical tower. However, it is actually something far worse, a giant wormlike monster living underground. With the help of a graduate student, Rhonda, who is doing some seismology work in the area, they try to save their town and kill the monster.
