In the quaint yet cloaked in mystery town, an audacious teen, Chi, finds herself returning home on the auspicious day her affluent stepfather, Huy, donates generously to the village temple. Amid the ensuing celebrations, a chilling event shatters the festive atmosphere - Chi's sister, Ai, mysteriously drowns in the neighboring river. The grim news lures Ai's uncle Thuc, a local policeman, to the village morgue to identify the body. However, he is met with a spine-chilling sight: Ai, presumed dead, suddenly sits upright, very much alive.
Thuc, bewildered yet relieved, escorts Ai back home, cautiously withholding the eerie details of her temporary demise. Initially, all seems well. The family rejoices in Ai's miraculous survival, oblivious of the impending doom. Soon, Ai begins to exhibit signs of spiritual possession, sending jolts of fear through the household. A shaman is summoned, who, after a failed exorcism, reveals a chilling prophecy, "Your daughter is not possessed by a dead spirit, but by a lost soul of a living person."
Undeterred, Chi embarks on a harrowing journey to the village where Ai was found, drawn by the desire to unearth the truth behind her sister's possession. There, she uncovers a horrifying reality - a community ensnared in the claws of human trafficking and child prostitution. Among the victims, she finds a young girl whose tragic fate is entwined with Ai's demise, shrouded by a guarded secret.
As the plot unravels, the vengeful spirit that followed Chi back home begins to reveal its monstrous form. As each dark secret is brought to light, the family's joy turns into unimaginable terror. The spirit, fueled by vengeance, threatens to obliterate Chi's entire family, unveiling the true visage of evil lurking beneath the surface.
