Plot

Emerging from the tendrils of a nightmarish dream, Ruby awakens to confront a horrifying reality that makes her dream seem like child's play. Encaged in a chilling basement, she finds herself paralyzed from the waist down, trapped in a terrifying game of survival and psychological warfare. Her captor, the enigmatic Tom, mysteriously anticipates her every whim, providing painkillers to numb her physical torment. Yet her mind, though shrouded in the fog of forgotten identity and memory, remains fiercely alive and desperate for escape. Tom's twisted ultimatum sends shivers down Ruby's spine: she will remain his captive until she succumbs to the perverse notion of falling in love with him. As her terror gives way to a primal urge for freedom, Ruby begins to play along, turning her predicament into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. In this chilling tale of captivity and manipulation, the lines between love and fear, victim and perpetrator, survival and surrender, blur and intertwine, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, breathlessly anticipating Ruby's next move. Will she manage to break free, or will she fall prey to Tom's cruel game? The suspense unravels in "Hippopotamus" (2018), a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end.
