Matt Franklin has a brilliant mind and a degree from MIT, but he finds himself disgusted with the materialism of 1980s America. He's just stepped away from a high-paying career out of a sense of discontent, and nothing in his life seems to be going well for him. But on the last night of Labor Day weekend, he works up the courage to finally do something he's always wanted to — tell the girl he loves just how he feels. But admitting your feelings isn't easy under normal circumstances, and this is going to be one especially crazy night for Matt and friends.
