Plot

In the heart of bustling London, renowned novelist Rachel Carlson enjoys a comfortable life with her son, Thomas, and her supportive yet uninspiring writer husband, Brian. Her world crumbles when a momentary lapse in attention results in Thomas's tragic drowning. Eight months later, Rachel, still ensnared in the throes of grief and guilt, retreats to an isolated seaside cottage in the quaint Scottish village of Ingonish Cove, seeking solace and inspiration for her upcoming novel. Exploring her new surroundings, Rachel is drawn to a nearby lighthouse, where she encounters the enigmatic lighthouse keeper, Angus McCulloch. Their connection deepens over time, culminating in a passionate romance. However, the morning after their union, Rachel is confronted with the chilling revelation that Angus died seven years prior. Shaken and questioning her sanity, she returns to the lighthouse, only to find it eerily deserted. Haunted by spectral apparitions and plagued by paranoia, Rachel finds herself caught in a harrowing struggle to distinguish reality from her own imagination. With the help of her psychiatrist, Dr. Robert Freedman, and her steadfast friend Sharon Winton, Rachel embarks on a desperate journey to uncover the truth, even as her past continues to cast long, sinister shadows over her present. As the line between the real and the unreal blurs, Rachel must confront her deepest fears and darkest demons in a fight for her sanity, and ultimately, her survival.
