Gumnaam (1965)

In the pulsating heart of a night club, seven seemingly ordinary people, a blend of five men and two women, become the fortunate recipients of a lucky draw. Their win? An alluring holiday package that promises a break from the monotony of life. Excitement bubbles as they board a small plane, the hum of the engine a prelude to their anticipated adventure. However, destiny has other plans when the plane, carrying the unsuspecting holidaymakers and a co-pilot, develops a critical malfunction. An emergency landing leaves them marooned like modern-day Crusoes in the heart of an unforgiving jungle, their luggage discarded, their only connection to the civilized world, the plane, flying back into the ether, leaving them at the mercy of nature. The ominous silence of the jungle is shattered by a female voice, singing in an almost spectral whisper. Compelled by curiosity and desperation, the stranded party follows the voice, leading them to an enigmatic mansion, a beacon of civilization amidst the savage wilderness. They are welcomed by a butler with a disconcerting familiarity, who claims to have been expecting them. A sense of unease permeates the air as he hands over a letter that chills them to the bone. The letter reveals a sinister twist - they are all implicated in a crime and warns them of a looming doom - they will be killed, one after another. A deadly game of survival ensues, punctuated by macabre musical numbers. As the castaways fall prey to an unseen predator, tension escalates. The key questions remain - who is the ruthless killer lurking in the shadows? And can any of them evade the clutches of this relentless hunter before it's too late?
