Plot

Jean-Dominique Bauby was only 43 years old when he saw his legacy in the fashion industry and his future ability to take care of himself thrown into jeopardy when he awakes from a stroke to find out that he's almost entirely paralyzed. Bauby can only blink one eye, but he somehow manages to use that single blink to communicate with those closest to him and to even write a memoir of his experiences. Despite the fact that he's basically trapped in his own body, Bauby manages to paint a rich and evocative portrait of what life is like inside there.
