Footpath (2003)

In the shadowy underbelly of Mumbai, a tale of friendship, revenge, and redemption unfolds, told through the eyes of Arjun, a man caught between loyalty and duty. The film Footpath deftly weaves Arjun's past and present into a gripping narrative, beginning with a nostalgic flashback. As a child, Arjun's humble life in the slums of Mumbai is disrupted when his father, a passionate workers' union leader, is brutally murdered by scheming anti-unionists. His only solace comes from his close-knit bonds with two street-smart siblings, Raghu, Shekhar, and their sister, Sanjana. Fuelled by a thirst for justice, Arjun, with his loyal friends' aid, seeks revenge for his father's untimely death. In the aftermath, he finds refuge in the bustling city of Delhi, leaving his old life behind. However, destiny has a different plan, leading him back to Mumbai two decades later when the law comes knocking at Arjun's door. The story takes a thrilling turn as Arjun is confronted with a daunting proposition by the police. His childhood companions Raghu and Shekhar have now ascended the criminal ladder, becoming notorious drug dealers. The police seek Arjun's help to infiltrate Raghu's gang and trace the elusive kingpin of the crime world. If he refuses, he faces charges for his past act of vengeance. Reluctantly, Arjun plunges into the underworld, reuniting with his friends and reigniting a romantic spark with Sanjana, who has distanced herself from her brothers' criminal life.
