Fear in the Night (1947)

In the chilling realm of dreams and reality, Vince Grayson, portrayed by DeForest Kelley, finds himself ensnared in a terrifying web of fear and uncertainty. His journey begins in a strange, mirrored room, where he is an unwilling participant in a gruesome murder. A mysterious woman overlooks the act while a man meticulously slices into a safe with a blowtorch. A struggle ensues, culminating in the safe-cracker's demise at the hands of Vince, who, in his desperation, thrusts a drill into the man's heart. The woman vanishes into the labyrinth of mirrored doors, leaving Vince alone with the lifeless body, a severed button from the victim's jacket, and the key to the closet where he hides his guilt. Upon waking, Vince is haunted by the disturbingly tangible remnants of his 'nightmare' - the button and key. His reality begins to fray at the edges when he realizes his nightmare wasn't merely a figment of his imagination. In search of answers, he confides in his brother-in-law, detective Cliff Harlan, played by Paul Kelly. Initially skeptical, Cliff dismisses Vince's tale as the aftermath of a nightmare. But a week later, during a family picnic with Cliff's wife, Lil, and Vince's girlfriend, Betty Winters, circumstances force them to seek shelter in a mansion during a storm. The mansion's unsettling familiarity unearths Vince's darkest fears, for it houses the very same mirrored room from his nightmare, making Cliff question the reality of Vince's 'dream.' As the boundaries between the dream world and reality begin to blur, Vince finds himself on a nightmarish descent into a chilling mystery. Is he a victim of his own imagination, or is he a pawn in a deadly game that transcends the realm of dreams? Only time will reveal if doom is indeed closing in on Vince in the movie, 'Fear in the Night.'
