The Third Man (1949)

A pulp fiction writer is invited to post World War II Vienna by an old friend. When he gets there, he finds out his friend has been killed in a strange accident. As he asks about the accident, he receives several conflicting stories. The officials investigating the accident try to convince him to go home. This makes him suspicious and determined to find out the truth about his old friend’s death, which leads him into the shady underworld of the black market. He finds evidence that his friend wasn’t just an innocent bystander in the black market of medical supplies.
