Plot

Life takes an abrupt, downward turn for Nicholas Halsey on the day he loses his job in Phoenix, a consequence of his unbridled alcoholism and an unfortunate incident in a hotel room. Emerging from the fog of his latest bender, he returns home only to discover his belongings scattered across the front lawn, the locks of his home changed, and a heart-wrenching farewell note from his wife. Stripped of his bank account, credit cards, phone, and company car, he finds himself adrift in a sea of his own chaos, with nothing but his lawn and his beloved easy chair for comfort. His world seemingly crumbling, Nick decides to take up residence right there on the front yard. A close-cop friend and AA sponsor, Frank Garcia, offers him a lifeline, advising him to feign a garage sale for legality's sake, promising him five days before he faces potential arrest. With nothing to lose, Nick, beer in hand, embarks on an unexpected journey from the comfort of his lawn chair. Fate, however, has its own plans. Gradually, he begins to form unlikely alliances with the neighborhood's misfits—an overweight kid seeking distraction on his bicycle, a pregnant woman newly moved in across the street, and a ghost from his high school past. As Nick navigates this beer-soaked odyssey, he finds himself not just selling his possessions, but also, quite inadvertently, moving on from the wreckage of his past. "Everything Must Go" is more than just a yard sale—it’s a tale of a man's struggle against his demons, a testament to the power of human connection, and a poignant exploration of how, sometimes, losing everything can be the first step towards finding oneself again.
