Plot

In Duke, a contemporary spin on classic westerns unfolds in West Los Angeles' underbelly. Brothers Dare and Roost, molded by their formative years in a reformatory, navigate through life with a hardened edge and a deep-seated mistrust of the world. Dare, moonlighting as a self-established detective, prowls the shadowy streets, eliminating scum and striving for justice, while Roost finds solace in the nostalgic glow of old John Wayne films, wrapped in his own reclusive existence. Their paths intertwine with the city's phantom menace, Winky, who has been casting a pall of terror over the community. This elusive criminal becomes Dare's obsession, a specter he is determined to unmask. Paralleling this pursuit, the official machinery of law enforcement, led by the relentless Detective Robert Morrison, embarks on the same hunt, their interest piqued by the same menace. As the brothers edge closer to Winky, the department's net tightens around them, leading to a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. With the ultimate sacrifice beckoning, Dare and Roost must grapple with their destiny, facing the extraordinary repercussions that loom ahead. Duke is a tale of brotherhood, obsession, and the demanding price of justice.
