Haunted by the tragic loss of their young daughter and burdened with an undercurrent of unspoken guilt, John and Laura Baxter seek solace within the chilly embrace of Venice, Italy. In this labyrinth of canals that whispers tales of shocking murders, they attempt to navigate their grief. John immerses himself in the restoration of an ancient chapel, using the intricate work as a conduit for his suppressed sorrow. Laura, on the other hand, finds solace in the numbing embrace of medication. Their new life takes an unsettling turn when they cross paths with Heather and Wendy, a pair of enigmatic elderly sisters.
