Dedication (2007)

Henry Roth, a children's book author with an obsessive-compulsive demeanor and a somewhat misanthropic outlook, finds himself in a turmoil when Rudy, his illustrator and only confidante, passes away. This unexpected event leaves Henry facing the daunting task of producing another successful "Marty, the Beaver" book in time for the Christmas rush, alone. Arthur Planck, his publisher, introduces Henry to Lucy Reilly, an illustrator battling her own demons of a love lost and financial instability. Lucy, still haunted by her ex-boyfriend Jeremy who broke her heart only to return with a book dedicated to her, is thrust into this creative partnership. She and Henry retreat to a seaside abode, a haven for their work, and possibly, their hearts. As they navigate this new environment and professional relationship, one can't help but wonder - will love find a way amid the chaotic circumstances or is Henry merely a detour in Lucy's journey back to Jeremy? All the while, the voice of Rudy echoes from beyond, providing guidance and wisdom to a bewildered Henry.
