In the wake of their whirlwind wedding in Switzerland, newlyweds Valerie and Stefan Chilton embark on a journey by train, destined for England. Their hope is to introduce Valerie to Stefan's highbrow mother at the opulent Chilton Manor. However, an unexpected stop in Ostend derails their plans, and they find themselves ensconced in the royal suite of a desolate seaside hotel, as eerie as it is extravagant. Their only company, the ominous concierge Pierre, informs them of a chilling string of murders in nearby Bruges, while hinting at the hotel's own cryptic past. Under the cloak of the same night, the enigmatic Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Báthory and her enticing protege, Ilona Harczy, make their appearance at the hotel.
