Plot

In the haunting specter of Bosnia's mass graves, we find Benjamin, a young Turkish poet who has traded verses for a grimmer reality. Fleeing from a tormented past, he volunteers in the daunting task of exhuming the casualties of war. An innocent game he once played spirals into a tragedy, causing the demise of Joseph's beloved Zeliha, an event that haunts his dreams and amplifies the psychological strain of his job. In these shadowy corners of despair, he crosses paths with Zrinka, a Serbian-Bosnian psychologist dedicated to healing the mental scars of post-war survivors. Their fateful encounter takes place on the iconic Mostar Bridge, where Benjamin saves Zrinka from the brink of self-destruction. As two damaged souls, they find solace in each other, kindling a love amidst the ruins. Zrinka becomes Benjamin's beacon, guiding him towards redemption from his guilt-ridden conscience. Compelled to confront his demons, Benjamin returns to Turkey, leaving Zrinka haunted by a premonitory dream of his peril. Following her intuition, she ventures into the labyrinth of his past only to stumble upon hidden truths and a profound new understanding of love. In this intricate tapestry of trauma and redemption, Crossroads (2013) explores the depths of human resilience and the transformative power of love.
