Plot

Haunted by the cruel grip of Alzheimer's disease, retired police inspector Charles Boyer grapples with the harsh reality of dependency as he bids his solitary apartment goodbye. His son, Thomas, guides him into the somber halls of The Residence, a clinic dedicated to battling neuro-degenerative illnesses. Inside, Charles finds an unlikely companion in the enigmatic and insatiable Carole Rothmann, their connection sparking a brief, passionate encounter within the clinic's sterile walls. However, the morning light brings a chilling mystery. Carole vanishes, and Charles learns of her sudden death from a heart attack. As the echoes of her absence reverberate through the clinic, a disturbing pattern emerges. An unsettling number of patients have met similar fates, their lives extinguished as quickly as their names faded from the clinic's register. Torn between the disorienting haze of his disease and his ingrained instincts as a detective, Charles embarks on a harrowing journey. Armed with his keen observations recorded meticulously in a notebook, he wrestles with the haunting question: Is this the delusion of his crumbling mind, or is a silent reaper stalking the clinic's corridors? Battling the relentless tide of his illness, Charles plunges into what could be his most challenging and personal investigation yet. Straddling the thin line between reality and illusion, he sets out to unravel a dark secret lurking within the clinic's seemingly benign facade. The gripping narrative of "Cortex" invites viewers to join Charles on his quest, as he defies his affliction to seek the truth and bring justice to The Residence.
