Plot
In the tense opening act of World War II, the bustling British port becomes a shadowy playground for spies and smugglers, flourishing amidst the uncertainty of the "phoney war". Amidst this chaos sails in Danish freighter captain Andersen, a reluctant participant in this clandestine world. Forced into an unexpected delay by a British warship's inspection, Andersen manages to secure shore passes for himself and his first officer, only to find them swiped by the enigmatic passengers known as "Mrs. Sorensen" and "Mr. Pidgeon".
Unwilling to play the pawn, Andersen takes to the murky streets, trailing his elusive passengers through a maze of espionage and intrigue. As the blackout descends, Andersen is drawn deeper into the labyrinth, becoming entangled in the deadly dance of a German spy ring operating within the eerie, unreal shore life. Through one crowded, suspense-fuelled night, Contraband unravels a captivating tale of deception, courage and resilience, where nothing is what it seems and danger lurks in every shadow.
