In the heart of Hampstead, a single American mother named Ann Lake stumbles into the welcoming corridors of the Little People's Garden School, seeking to entrust her beloved daughter, Bunny, into their care. Having freshly relocated from the United States to the bustling city of London, Ann finds herself caught in the whirlwind of moving day, leaving Bunny in the First Day Room with an assured promise of a German cook's watchful eye. As she departs to receive the delivery men at their new apartment, the nursery fades into the background, a sanctuary where Bunny should be safe. Yet upon her return, Ann is met with a chilling emptiness. The German cook is gone, and Bunny's laughter no longer echoes through the hallways. Confusion turns to panic as she discovers that no one at the nursery has any recollection of Bunny's presence. Desperate, Ann calls upon her brother, Steven Lake, and Superintendent Newhouse, who launches a meticulous investigation into Bunny's sudden disappearance.
