Blood in the Water (2016)

In the seclusion of a luxurious contemporary mansion nestled in the Hollywood Hills, young couple Percy (Alex Russell) and Veronica (Willa Holland) are savoring their final days of a summer housesit. Despite the opulence surrounding them, they yearn for the imminent return to their familiar life in New York - a world filled with the hustle of jobs and the gritty challenges of young professionals. Their tranquil retreat, however, is abruptly shattered by an unexpected visit from their erstwhile college peer, Freedgood (Miguel Gomez). Once a fellow liberal arts student, Freedgood's life has since spiraled into a dangerous vortex of imprisonment, dubious alliances, and narcotics trade. His sudden arrival at the mansion marks the beginning of a perilous journey, urging the audience to rapidly piece together the fragments of his shadowy past. This unexpected intrusion inevitably leads to Freedgood's downfall and draws the attention of an inquisitive LAPD detective. The disturbance leaves Percy and Veronica yearning for their routine struggles, finding them strangely more appealing than their current predicament in this deceptive haven.
