Plot

In the bustling heart of Wimpy Bar, Stanley Moon (Dudley Moore), a humble short-order cook, harbors a hopeless infatuation for the alluring waitress, Margaret (Eleanor Bron). On the brink of despair, he teeters on the edge of oblivion when he crosses paths with the enigmatic George Spiggott, also known as the Devil (Peter Cook). Tempted by the tantalizing promise of seven wishes in exchange for his soul, Stanley embarks on a tumultuous journey to win Margaret’s heart. As an intellectual, a rock star, and a wealthy tycoon, he repeatedly tries and fails to make her his own. With each misstep, Stanley uncovers the hollowness of his previous existence and the boundless possibilities life offers. During this transformative journey, he encounters the seven deadly sins, who serve as dubious guides, offering him advice and shaping his understanding of life's true riches.
