Plot

As the last leaves of November 1999 fall, Seattle transforms into a magnetic hub, pulling thousands towards it for the inaugural World Trade Organization (WTO) Conference on American land. Among the crowd are not only official delegates but also steadfast protesters, united in their conviction that the non-elected WTO is a puppet, dancing to the tunes of corporate greed while ignoring the plight of the impoverished, the working-class, and the environment. Before the conference commences, the key protesters pledge to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, a vow echoed by Seattle Mayor Jim Tobin who assures no arrests or forceful measures if the promise holds. However, the first day of the conference ignites a spark, escalating tensions between the police and protesters and catching many innocent bystanders in the ensuing blaze. The promises made are quickly forgotten in the chaotic aftermath, and the pursuit of personal interests begins to overshadow the collective cause on both sides. The conflict isn't confined to the streets of Seattle. A quieter struggle also unfolds within the conference itself. Delegates from organizations like Doctors Without Borders and representatives from impoverished nations strive to voice the protesters' concerns in a diplomatic manner. Yet, their pleas seem to fall on deaf ears among the higher echelons of the organization. Battle in Seattle is a gripping portrayal of the internal and external struggles that marked this significant event in history.
