Plot

The historical protests at the 1968 National Democratic Convention resulted in a number of arrests, but the charged ringleaders who were dubbed the Chicago Seven represented a diverse spread of activist personalities. From outspoken and audacious Abby Hoffman to Black Panther leader Bobble Seale, the defendants represented a wide array of personalities and even objectives. But they were all charged with trying to incite a riot. Hoffman and others believe that the trial was politically motivated, but that alone wouldn't win the case. The future of the American Left β€” and of the freedom to protest publicy β€” could be at stake.
