In the heart of BACK FORK, we encounter WAYLON, an ordinary man wrestling with the aftermath of an earth-shattering tragedy. He and his wife NIDA, once familiar figures to each other, now drift like strangers in their shared world, lost and hopeless. The weight of unresolved questions and self-inflicted guilt threatens to sink them further into despair. It's not long before Waylon seeks solace in the enchanting allure of pills, a balm to mask his ever-present anguish. His journey through the fog of addiction draws him closer to his sister, RAYLENE, a companion in his somnambulant existence. As he navigates this twisted path, a crossroads inevitably looms before him. It's here that he uncovers the real question isn’t 'why', but rather 'where do I go from here?'. This revelation brings with it a newfound perspective: we are all wounded creatures, navigating the pains of existence. Sometimes we succumb, but sometimes we endure, pushing through the darkness towards the promise of a new dawn.
