Plot

As the sun rises on Ash Wednesday, 1983, whispers of the impossible stir the grimy streets of Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. The specter of Sean Sullivan, thought dead for three years, seems to have made an uncanny reappearance, shaking the foundations of a community steeped in turmoil. His older brother, Francis Sullivan, finds himself in a labyrinth of danger, as the past threatens to ignite the present. Francis is a man caught between loyalty and survival, under the protective wing of a local mob boss who is feeling the heat from an ambitious newcomer. But when the ghost of his allegedly dead brother Sean resurfaces, Francis must navigate the treacherous waters of old rivalries and unsettled scores. A brother thought lost, a wife who'd mourned and moved on, and a city on the brink of a mob war form the crucible of this gritty drama. The echoes of Sean's return reach his wife, who, believing herself a widow, has painstakingly rebuilt her life from its shattered remains. But her past refuses to stay buried, as Sean reaches out from the shadows, pulling her back into a life she'd left behind. Their parish priest, complicit in the original deception of Sean's death, trembles under the weight of his secret, while the city's underbelly seethes with anticipation as armed henchmen close in. In this urban jungle where morality is luxury and survival a daily struggle, will Francis manage to extricate Sean and his wife, avoiding the impending mob war? Or will he succumb to the city's dark allure, sacrificing newfound ethics on the altar of necessity? Only the cross of ashes on their foreheads this Ash Wednesday might hold the answer, a symbol of faith amidst the chaos, in this intricate tale of lies, loyalty, and survival in the heart of 1980's Manhattan.
