A Time to Die (1991)

In the gritty shadows of a city tainted with corruption, Jackie Swanson, an innocent photographer by profession, finds herself ensnared in the twisted web of the law, falsely accused of dealing cocaine. Her life turns into a relentless pursuit of justice as she's meted out a harsh sentence of 400 hours community service, her task being to capture the seemingly righteous deeds of the police department through her lens. As fate would have it, Jackie's camera becomes her ticket to redemption when she inadvertently captures a sinister act on film - the corrupt police lieutenant Eddie Martin, the very man who had orchestrated her downfall, ruthlessly killing a pimp. Jackie's world is suddenly illuminated by this unexpected revelation, and she realizes that the line between guardians of justice and purveyors of crime is dangerously blurred. With the damning photographic evidence in her hands, Jackie sees an opportunity to reclaim the life that was stolen from her, particularly the custody of her beloved son, lost in the aftermath of her conviction. Yet, this path towards vindication is fraught with peril as she attempts to manipulate Eddie into retracting his damning testimony against her. However, Eddie isn't a man to be cornered easily. In a desperate bid to reclaim the incriminating pictures, he embarks on a ruthless hunt, aided by a startlingly unexpected ally. In this high-stakes game of deception and betrayal, Jackie finds an unlikely partner in a fellow policeman, both of them united in their quest to expose the rot within their ranks.
