In the shadowy underbelly of New York City, a sinister series of deaths begins to unfold. Victims are discovered in grim states of mutilation, their skin etched with the cryptic equation wÎ"z = Cov (w,z) = ßwzVz. As the city trembles in fear, the police, under the seasoned leadership of Captain Maclean, delve into the darkness to unravel this enigma. Among them is Eddie Argo, a steadfast officer, and his fresh-faced partner, Helen Westcott. Their investigation takes a chilling turn as they unearth a harrowing pattern – each victim was forced into a horrific choice: their own survival or the life of a loved one. It soon becomes evident that the perpetrator is not just a random killer, but someone who has also been thrust into this unbearable dilemma. Tormented by their past, the killer seeks solace in an unthinkable way – by forcing others to face the same philosophical quandary they once did. As the body count rises and the equation nears its conclusion, the detectives are in a race against time.
