A Passage to India (1984)

In the hushed dawn of the 1920s, Adela Quested (Judy Davis) and her prospective mother-in-law Mrs. Moore (Peggy Ashcroft), British women of courage and curiosity, venture into the heart of British India. Their destination is Chandrapore, a city echoing with the rhythms of colonial rule, where Adela's fiancé, Ronny Heaslop (Nigel Havers), serves as the magistrate.
